2017 marks the Year of the Fire Rooster!
This time of year, every Chinese family will be busy thinking of auspicious Chinese New Year recipes to prepare for the family. Some even, will be brainstorming on where to celebrate Chinese New Year with an oriental banquet.
Not only doing the dishes themselves matter, but also the preparation, and ways of serving and eating mean a lot. Moreover when choosing the perfect place to eat out with your family and friends, it will just so perfect when our favourite Chinese food is getting a low-calorie makeover!
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with these healthy servings at Chynna!
Chynna serves delicate and subtle modern Cantonese cuisine with a focus of healthy eating.
Let’s start with the demonstration of “Kung Fu Tea” Pouring.
Great Chynna Set 大展华苑套餐 @ RM 298 nett Per Person
Year of “Rooster” Lo Sang
Replacing all the usual shredded carrots and some coloured crackers, this version of Lo Sang is indeed a special one. Using fruits as a substitute, it churned out all the natural sweet flavours: Jackfruit, dragonfruit, turnip, strawberries and instead if the usual raw fish as topping, Chef Lam cleverly uses sweet & sour chicken. This added the flavour, crunch and it fits the Fire Rooster year perfectly.
Tossed with fragrant peanuts, crackers and olive oil, it’s so good!
Braised Vegetarian Fin Soup with Shanghai style Crab Meat and Fish Maw Soup
Environmental friendly, say no to shark fins! This vegetarian fin soup amazingly surprised our palate as it was really smooth and tasty.
Steamed wild patin buah with salted fish and touchu, chili and congee broth
The combination of flavours are so light (congee broth) and yet tasty at the same time (salted fish & touchu and chili)! My fave dish of the night.
Simmer abalone cube with sea cucumber and mushrooms in abalone sauce
Lip smacking sauce loaded with so much essence from the abalone & mushrooms. The ingredients are chewey too. So much texture.
Stir fried Korean pear with vegetarian meats and sea moss
I’ve never had any savoury dishes with pear and this gives the natural sweetness to the dish. Also it decreases the the satiating feeling.
Stir fried fragrant rice with sausage, char siew wrapped with lotus leaf
Fragrant, tasty and not too oily.
Chilled carol weed with ginseng and wolfberry
Love this dessert as it has all the healthy benefits that we all need. And it’s very chilling too!
Their well decorated pop-up corner
Had an early Reunion dinner with the bffs 🙂
