The French may have garnered the reputation for fine dining but when it comes to no-holds-barred flavour bombs, Spanish cuisine packs a real punch. Think the goodness of Jamon Iberico, patatas bravas and piquant tomato gravies that elevate a simple dish into the realms of pleasure. These robust flavours belong to a culinary culture that has gifted the world with a range of concepts — from finger-lickingly delicious tapas for sharing during a boisterous night, hearty paella, to the immensely influential Tapas Club.
#firstworldproblems is when you’re spoilt with too many choices for Spanish dining thanks to the recent influx of new restaurants. And this promising addition is bagged by Tapas Club. Located at the Dining Loft of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Tapas Club exudes a warm & chic atmosphere for their patrons.
Tapas Club is also helmed by Executive Chef Jose Angel Alonso (also the Executive Chef of Binomio Spanish Restaurant) and one-star Michelin Chef Manuel Berganza (the first Spanish chef in U.S. to earn a one-star Michelin rating). Both Spanish chefs envision to offer these special flavours at a much affordable pricing in a premium restaurant setting.
The menu features a selection of traditional Spanish Tapas and Paellas, alongside more innovative offerings, and monthly signature dishes as well.
The 3 signature dishes that are available for this month includes Iberico Pork Skewers, Eggplant Chips and Stuffed Piquillo Pepper.
Eggplant Chips – RM19
Thinly sliced crispy eggplant that are so addictive to munch on. Love the idea of drizzling them with some honey.
Stuffed Piquillo Pepper – RM27
With these peppers originating from Spain, the flavour is sweet and was a perfect blend with the tasty minced beef stuffed inside. One of our favourite dish!
Iberico Pork Skewers – RM25
A dish perfect for a Spanish party! I was really amazed at how tasty and juicy they were.
Garlic Prawns – RM26
If Spain is famous for its delicious tapas, the recipe for Gambas al Ajillo is probably one of the most popular. A favourite tapas dish, these prawns are infused with the flavours of garlic, olive oil and chilli. The taste of prawns perfectly complements that of garlic and chilli and this sauce would be great to go with the bread.
Deep Fried Suckling Pig with Spinach Catalan Style – RM27
The skin was crispy, with tender meat and it has a slightly buttery flavour that comes from deep frying.
Deep Fried Chicken Wings with Roasted Red Pepper Dip – RM25
Chicken & Seafood Paella – RM78
A lovely paella that will make you dream of sunny Spain.
Beautiful, fresh ingredients crowns Spain’s most famous rice. It’s filled with complex flavours.
Squid Ink Paella – RM78
It has a nice deep flavour infused into every grain, and topped with generous amount of squid as well.
Chorizo Paella – RM78
The Chorizo gives it a real tasty bite.
Traditional Churros with Hot Chocolate – RM20
Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It’s coated with a little cinnamon and sugar, then dunked in a creamy chocolate sauce.
“Tapas Club” Cheese Cake – RM28
The highly recommended and must-try dessert at Tapas Club, this is their deconstructed cheese cake. A dessert served on-point, the aromatic and crispy crumbly bits paired perfectly with the lighty sweetened “cheesecakes” and berries on sides.
