This year’s Malaysia International Gastronomy Festival is back with more and better participating restaurants, offering lip-smacking and value-for-money meals especially for food aficionados!
Having opened its doors in 2015, 2OX quickly made a name for itself as one of the capital’s most authentic French eateries. With curations by Chef Phillip Murray Dominic, you’ll find a modern twist towards his dishes, that don’t stray too far from their original versions with his own signature flairs on them. Get ready to be impressed!
MIGF SET Menu (5-Course Menu)

RM 220 Net with Wine Pairing
Available until 30th September 2018
Amuse Bouche
Grilled Octopus with Tomato & Hazelnut Oil Chilled Soup-Sea salt & Porcini Froth
Some grilled octopus that we’ve tasted is either too tough or chewy. This portion is definitely not rubbery and cooked perfectly. The char taste is augmented with the combination of Porcini froth.
Starter
Tiger Prawns Torchon with Marinated Trout Roe, Crispy Seaweed, Piquillo Pepper Gastrique and Candied Pine Nuts
Wine : Lavila Sauvignon Blanc Cotes De Gascogne 2016, France
Prawns beautifully presented, the complexity of textures and taste in this dish just blew us away. Fresh, tasty and crispy.
Main Course 1
Emmental & Hazelnut Gratin Seabass Fillet with Braised Cauliflower and Smoked Shallot
Having fish with cheese is definitely something pretty new to us. The layer of torched Emmental cheese that is slight melted on the seabass skin makes great difference in flavours to the dish. The seabass was nicely cooked too.
Main Course 2
Tongue & Cheeks (Beef two ways)
18 Hours Braised Angus Beef Cheeks and Josper grilled Ox Tongue with Tomatillo Relish and Parisian Gnocchi
Wine: Domaines Barons De Rothschild Legend Bordeaux Rouge 2015, France
Can’t believe they serve 2 main courses and not just choose one instead!
The Angus Beef Cheeks are so meltingly tender, you can eat it with a spoon. The braising liquid is infused with incredible flavour too. And as for the ox tongue, it was nicely grilled in the Josper, charred and has a remarkably tender texture. It was very delicious to eat with the little gnocchi too!
Dessert
Walnut & Carrot cake with Cinnamon Brown Butter Crème Fraiche and Banana Dulce
Wine: Dow’s Fine Ruby Port , Porto, Portugal
I personally always have a crush for 2OX’s dessert as they are not overly sweet, and the combination of different sweetness from each element is just right. Just like this MIGF’s version of walnut and carrot cake, our plates are cleaned – with both light and richness elements all in one dessert.
