Christmas Eve Dinner Menu
RM280 nett per pax (without wine)
RM380 nett per person with wine pairing
Prelude
Spiced Mulled Wine
This is like the welcome winter warmer drink and it made me miss our days studying at Scotland. Queing to get a glass at their Christmas Market!
Thank you Majestic for the reminiscence! Haha.
A hearty red wine with deep fruit and nice tannins can be a great pleasure, how about heating things up with a nice steaming hot cup of wine? So warm and fuzzy!
Amuse Bouche
Salmon, crème fraiche, fresh dill
Starter
Seared Bay Scallop, white asparagus and broad beans – paired with Huntaway Marlborough Sauvignonn Blanc New Zealand.
The delicate sweet flavour and tender texture of scallops are undeniably good – my scallops came out sweet and crunchy, with a tender, springy center that was never rubbery.
Soup
Australian red onion soup with Gruyère toasts
Though it’s a hard cheese, aged Gruyère melts nicely on the toasts. So crispy and flavoursome, they pair really well with the red onion soup that is mild and sweet.
Sorbet
Raspberry sorbet
A palate cleanser before the main course is served, their version is rich and sweet enough to be a dessert all on its own. Huge portion too.
Main Course
Roasted turkey with parsnip mashed, roasted root vegetables, stuffing and giblet gravy – paired with Sister’s Run Epiphany McLaren Vale Shiraz Australia.
My portion was the thigh and thus, it was moist & flavourful. While Chris’s was being served the turkey breast, his serving was a little tough and dry. However their delicious gravy, it was still all good.
I personally love their mashed parsnip underneath, beating any typical mashed potato served.
Dessert
Orange parfait with cinnamon crumble, grapefruit sherbet.
Dig in the layers of treasures! The cinnamon crumble gave the added crunchy texture and the cold sherbet paired so well with the fruity concoction.
Petite Four
Homemade cookies and chocolates to go with the freshly brewed coffee or tea.
The dinner wasn’t quite complete with the dazzling Christmas jingles and gigs from their band Soliano’s of course. So be prepared to sit back, enjoy the delicious dinner spread and great music.
Colonial Cafe is also offering a Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve Dinner Menu.
