A Letter to My Son on his 2nd Birthday
Dear Cayden,
So, here we are, another year later — and just a month ago was your 2nd birthday.
The second year was so much different than the first. By the time you turned one, you weren’t walking, much less doing more than army crawling. But all that changed just before you turned 18 months—you became an Olympic speed crawler, and before we knew it you were walking right after 1, letting yourself into all of our rooms, reaching on top of our counters, climbing here & there getting into all kinds of trouble, including but not limited to bumping your gorgeous (albeit somewhat large) forehead at every turn. You were the baby who didn’t move a muscle—now you’re the toddler who won’t sit still. Funny how fast things change. Haha
Around 22 months, the tantrums went into full effect, but that was to be expected. Let’s just say, you know what you want, I guess. LOL
People say you’re slow in terms of progress and milestone, but your daddy and I think that you’re just taking your own sweet time. We were quite concerned about the milestones.
Just when we were so stressed out and worried, you surprised us again.
Just when you “touched” 2… Everything seemed so different.
You’re more attached to me.
You can fall asleep anywhere (that would make travelling easy haha)
You’re more focused
You show interest in whatever things we do!
You showed so much interests in animals lately. Loving them that you could recite their names in sleep and aced the sounds they make. So your daddy and I decided the perfect theme for your 2nd birthday party!
2 The Farm!

Couldn’t really think of what animal to dress you up as, and you’ll probably hate us next time for making you a “cow” or something, we made you a “Farmer” instead. LOL.
And coincidently you chose your own boots from Shoopen just a few days before your birthday!

3. Venue – Gymboree IOI CITY MALL
We threw your birthday party at Gymboree IOI City Mall!
Cos it’s like the perfect place for you to run about, climb around and of course, have fun with your little friends.
Mommy and Daddy thought that that’s how kids party are supposed to be: Kids are the one who should have fun! (while the adults watch…. haha!)
It’s very nice of Gymboree to offer a birthday package where there will be:
– 1 hour of Playtime
– Playtime in accordance to theme, structured play by a teacher
– 1 hour of eating time (Foodwise – bring your own snacks/ finger food)
The theme was FARM and thus there were setups like Duck’s Pond, Pig’s Pen, Hen’s House etc
There were lots of activities & pretend play organized for you and your friends as well!
That includes: Feed the Ducks, Chase the Rooster’s tail, Find the ducks, Collect the scattered eggs, sing-a-long with farm animal plushies, Bubbles catching, Parachute time!

When the activities came to and end, they do pretend play of “Cake Baking” singing “Pat-a-Cake” and pat-pat-pat you all go….. Daddy surprised you with the cake!
Mommy was camera sensitive cos it’s my day too. Haha!
With part of your friends and mommy’s good friends too!
Parachute time was fun!
And so was bubble time!
