While most people might be confused with the Sanook at Kelana Jaya that’s not operating anymore with the new Sanoook at Sunway Pyramid West Hotel, they are not the same!
Plus, if you look carefully at its spelling, it spells:
SANOOOK!
‘Sanook’ means ‘fun’ in Thai. They added another ‘O’ to represent a circle of friendship and thus, Sanoook means having fun together with friends!
This fun place is a fusion restaurant that combines Thai and Japanese cuisine. No frets on the Thai elements as it’s originated from their flagship restaurant Chakri Palace. By adding some creative ideas and presentation of Japanese, the combination of these 2 cuisines are pretty interesting – the merge of flavours and elements.
4-season platter – RM37.90
A selection of deep fried items like spring rolls & fish cakes. Love fragrant nibbles and starters like this.
Tom yum soup with river prawn – RM23.90
We personally love their tom yum soup as it has an intense flavour and very appetizing. Definitely not those made from watery paste. Very authentic 🙂 Love how they combine the Japanese elements by using a ceramic sake flask.
Pan fried tuna steak with spinach & mixed mushroom served with teriyaki sauce – RM28.90
One of my favourite too as the tuna is nicely pan fried till it’s pink in the middle.
Salmon belly skewer with lime chili sauce – RM77.90
Love the good grill flavour combination of sauce too.
Chicken skewer with massaman sauce – RM32.90
The Thai Massaman sauce was infused with lots of flavours from the spices. Very palate stimulating.
Vege skewer (tomato, corn, zucchini, capsicum, leek) with Sanoook sauce – RM28.90
Tuna with tom yum sauce sushi – RM27.90
Soft shell crab with thai mango chili sauce sushi – RM34.90
First time savouring such fusion sushis. The crunch with a sourish and hint of spiciness hits the right note. However, Chris and I personally still prefer Japanese sushis. Haha!
Chicken burger with teriyaki sauce – RM17.90
Love this rice burger 🙂 Chicken fillet nicely grilled and glazed with teriyaki sauce.
Sanoook salad Japanese cucumber wrapped w salmon, avocado & baked apple – RM29.90
Thai Coconut Soup with Chicken Wonton – RM16.90
It was really flavoursome but a tad too salty.
Beef skewer with Massaman sauce – RM34.90
Thai volcano – RM18.90
Thai Milk Tea with shaved ice! Not overly sweet 🙂
Fresh durian ice-cream with coconut milk – RM21.90
Cute train for patrons to enjoy some photos taking with their props!
Don’t forget the booze peeps! You can grab a drink or two with your friends after work or during weekends!
