Decided to visit this cute cafe located at Sri Petaling with Mini C on a weekday lunch time one afternoon. Parking was a pain but Papa C was lucky to get a parking in the end. That’s one down side when we talked about Sri Petaling. Minamotonoya is locate on the same row as the famous Ho Ho Steamboat.
Minamotonoya (源の屋) is a Japanese style cafe. Simple deco with wooden touches emphasized and it was really cosy. It may be a little dim on the inside but if you want instagram worthy pictures, remember to grab the window seat with natural lighting haha.
Not only nice to see, the food was pretty decent too. We (I mean me LOL) were initially attracted to their water mochi dessert but was surprised to find their hot food good too.
Chasu Don – RM19.90
Succulent chasu and marinated soft boiled eggs on rice.
Melt in your mouth pork belly braised in sweet and savory soy sauce based sauce. So tasty.
Wafu Aglio Olio – RM12.90
Japanese style aglio olio, the pasta was al dente and tastily tossed with shimeji mushrooms, topped with bonito flakes.
Mizu Mochi – RM6.90
Water mochi!
The water mochi is also known as Mizu Shingen Mochi, a lovely dessert that looks like a giant wobbly raindrop. It is made from gyuhi (a softer variety of mochi), served with kinako soy bean powder (roasted soya bean powder) & eaten with brown sugar syrup over it.
This dessert is enjoyable as it is lightly sweet. Bouncy texture nicely paired with sweet syrup & roasted soybean powder that is fragrant with hints of smokiness.
