Tendon lovers hands up!
Tendon is a bowl of rice topped with tempura = tempura and donburi.
It is often regarded as delightful one-bowl soul food meals for many Japanese around the world especially during summer. With freshest quality ingredients served in special porcelain bowls, say hi to Tendon Akimitsu!
Tendon Akimitsu is an extension of Shitamachi Tendon Akimitsu in Asakusa, a district of Taito, Tokyo. It is the first international venture of its founder Akimitsu Tanihara who sees a demand for good Japanese food in the growing population of Japanese residents in our country!
And… almost all their ingredients are imported from Japan! And top of the list is the conger eel which they get from the popular Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. *shiny eyes*
The interior is slightly modern, has an open kitchen so you can see how your tempura are being cooked.
It’s not really spacious and reminds me of our tendon experience in Kyoto Japan. Brings back good memories & yummy food!
The menu here is the same as the one you would find at Shitamachi, Japan it seems.
Speaking about Tendon Akimitsu seafood & vegetables, the batter is thin and the special tendon sauce just adds to the flavour. You can request for more sauce if you find it too dry to your liking.
Also, the Japanese rice is soft and fragrant.
The place where bowls of Japanese rice piled with tempura drizzled in a specially made sauce are served. So, so good!
