Here are my thoughts on Mini C’s progress after 1 term at Brainfit Studio:
These days some children are sent to ‘school’ from the time they are 12-14 months old, and some even as young as 7 months! This is a new trend and parents of the old school often wonder what these ‘babies’ could possibly learn when they have just begun to walk and talk. Many parents feel that they turned out quite all right without having attended any play school, brain stimulation or sensory classes. Other skeptical parents believe that this is just another gimmicky idea that will only put further pressure or peer pressure on today’s children.
While it is true that children today face tremendous academic pressure, skeptics will be pleasantly surprised to learn that the concept of a play school play a role in develop age-appropriate behaviour at the right time.
I personally thought that these classes help Mini C through:
- Learning
- Free Play
- Reduces Separation Anxiety
- And for us – meeting other parents
Brainfit’s Curriculum also focuses on the main areas like gross motor, visual & concept, memory, fine motor, music & movement, social/ pretend play/ sensory play, story telling.
Like all in one just in a class. Very comprehensive.
Here are what Mini C did during his Week 11 & Week 12 Baby Newton Classes:
Integrated movement through Obstacle Course
Sensory proprioception through tactile steps
Balance
Hand–eye coordination through aiming & throwing
Flash Cards / Vocab Cards
Focused on the sound of words (phonics), getting them to be more sensitive to word sounds.
Visual & Concept
Includes sorting different animals/ fruits (categorizing), match pictures to their shadows or outlines (discriminations).
This field is one of Mini C’s weaknesses as he if very difficult to focus on one thing. Gosh…
Will work more on this haha. At least now I know his strength & weaknesses through playtime.
Memory
On location, detail & sequence.
Fine motor
Focuses on finger/ hand strength & hand-eye coordination.
Music & Movement
Muscle memory through repetition and I would proudly say Mini C nailed it. Haha
Although he can’t sit still to do it, but I guess this is his favourite part of the class.
Sensory Play
Enables stimulation of senses allowing him to explore, create & investigate.
Story Book Time
Milestone gained after 1 TERM:
1. Separation anxiety reduced
2. More interactive with us (but not with other kids yet)
3. More independent (can play on his own)
4. Less shy (willing to explore more)
5. Learn words faster
