Lima Blas @ Jalan Mesui, KL

Just right before we checked into Villa Samadhi for our Anniversary retreat, we decided to drop by a vintage and retro spot for lunch. We’ve been eyeing pretty much on Lima Blas after learning that they have two of our favourite things: Nyonya food & a retro ambiance.

Why Lima Blas?
Oh it’s their lot number by the way, number fifteen (15) at Jalan Mesui, Off Changkat Bukit Bintang KL. I’m not sure if there are other meanings in the name but it’s definitely a clever idea for its simplicity.
Limabelas means number 15 literally 🙂

As you enter Limablas, you’ll be greeted by their themes that are influenced by trends and styles from the past. Right from the patio itself, the place is graced with retro-ness. Interior wise? Every corner has something to see, providing a lively feel to it, with bright colours, wild designs and an overall sense of flair. I would say it is a bold approach with the mix and match puzzle-piece of unique seatings for patrons, with eye-catching details in every corner.

At Limablas, you will be served with some of the basic comfort food of Peranakan cuisine 🙂

We went for their Lunch Meal, priced at RM9.90 (drinks not included).
Available from 12pm -3pm
This is quite a steal for KL-ites, we thought. And the lunch crowd just pours in filling up the whole heritage looking area in just minutes! Luckily we were there earlier and managed to photo down some pictures of the detailed decos before the people filled the dining place.

Pongteh Chicken
Comes with a serving of rice, and fried omelette too 🙂
Love this serving of aromatic gravy thanks to the tauchu or salted soy bean taste. Goes very well with the rice and the potato plus meat were very well infused with the salty & sweet combo flavours.

Nyonya Laksa (*available on Monday, Wednesday & Friday only)
Very rich in coconut gravy. Love the distinctive richness of the spiced coconut gravy with a slight sweetness and spiciness that kicks. However, Chris prefers his Ayam Pongteh to this as he personally loves normal laksa 🙂

Cincaluk Omelette – RM12
Tasted like shrimp paste fried eggs and we loved it. Best taken with rice or porridge! Suddenly misses Teo Chew Porridge. haha.
