It has been quite a while since we last drop by Bandar Puteri Puchong for a proper meal. Since our last huge disappointment with the Penang cuisine at Lorong Seratus Tahun, we’ve been quite skeptical towards most Penang fares in Klang Valley. Have always been wanting to drive up all the way to Penang to quench our cravings for Penang Hokkien Mee, Assam Lam, CKT and many more. However, we’re not as “available” to travel far nowadays. Haha.
A few Penang friends who loved their local food so much came and tell us about one great place to savour Penang delicacies properly in Klang Valley:
Penang One
Its name says it all.
A place that gathered Penang’s famous street food from different places in Penang, all under one roof: making it easier for the local KL folks to savour the northern delicacies comfortably and also lessen the cravings of Penangite from missing their local delights perhaps 🙂
Penang Lang recommended us here! Should be not bad we guessed!
Duck Egg Char Koay Teow – RM10.90
This is their Kampung Jawa Pee Chuan Char Koay Teow with Duck Egg. We’re actually quite impressed with this as it was loaded with “wok hei” and also flavoured similarly with Penang’s version. It would be much better if they add in more chilies as we love a spicier version! 🙂
Assam Laksa – RM8.50 (with extra Sardine +RM1.50)
From Ji De Chi stall in Lorong Selamat. It looks pretty authentic, loaded with lots of lettuce, cucumber, mint leave, chopped bunga kantan, sliced onions, pineapple strips and big chunks of sardine fish.Love the overall taste as well but we personally thought the broth could be thicker. Maybe they didn’t give us enough prawn paste to go with it.
Chee Cheong Fun – RM3.90
From Macalister Lane. Smooth CCF served with thick prawn paste, sweet brown sauce & also chili sauce. Simply too good 🙂
Chendol – RM5.00
From Swatow Lane New World Park. Served with lotsa red beans & green jelly with finely shaved ice.
Verdict:
Penang Taste. Penang Size. Local Price (as in local Klang Valley Price. haha)
We would return for more choices of Hokkien Prawn Mee, Curry Mee, Mua Chee and others that we’ve not tried 🙂
Note:
An extra RM1 is will be charged for the container in case you opt for take-away. So bring your own container if you intend to “tapao” 🙂

Their food is getting worse… Really. Their CKT no wok hei, inconsistent; they gave us spoilt ba zhang; watery chee cheung fun… my family and I was so disapointed with it… hmmmmm
really? When we went it was ok though. The CCF sauce were thick, CKT with good wok hei too.
Perhaps the inconsistency brought disappointment sometimes 😛 aiks
wowww looks alike! but taste? hehe will go try when i go down kl! =D
hahaha.. Looks like it. Taste like it.
But of course cannot be totally same with Penang’s version. But for us don’t have to travel far far lol
Hmmm I was very disappointed with the laksa. Agree with you it was a tad too watery and a bit to kiamsiap with the prawn paste.
The food really so so only compared to the real deal.
Furthermore portion is ridiculously small & damn expensive.
Omg yes! We have to agree with you. We went a few times when they were still at their old outlet and they were great. But just a few days ago, we went back again & were very disappointed 🙁 small portion & the taste wasn’t up to standard as before at all. So disappointed 🙁
Will be updating a recent review on this.
